Dear partners and friends of TeamAware: Welcome to our December 2023 newsletter - issue 9!
Our consortium has been very active over the past few months and we are pleased to inform you about the latest developments and activities in our project.
After our review meeting in May 2023, we have mainly focused on the final Bursa demonstration. For this, we met in Bursa in September 2023 and held a 5-day workshop (please find a detailed report on the event below), where we demonstrated the latest version of the TeamAware system to the invited first responders. We thoroughly visited the demonstration area and designed our pilot scenario to be used at the final demonstration, which will be held in February 2024.
All of the work in progress and achievements in the individual workpackages are summarized in the corresponding blogs published at https://teamaware.eu/news-events/blogs.html.
In this newsletter, we would like to inform you about numerous exciting and promising dissemination activities by our project partners.
On September 16, 2023, our partner #DUNE has participated in a clustering event at the underground facility Zentrum am Berg (ZAB) in Styria, Austria together with partners from the projects Med1stMR (funded by Horizon Europe) and NIKE-med (funded by the AUSTIRAN FFG). At this field exercise, a real-life testing inside a tunnel system took place, where a bus accident with 20 victims to be triaged was simulated. Overall, around 130 people took part in the exercise, including about 70 first responders from firefighters, police and four different medical first responder organizations, 38 role players and over twenty researchers from all over Europe. Participation in the event gave our partner DUNE the opportunity to liaise with partners from other Responder Technology projects and to test its COILS system, capable of tracking the location of the first responders in GPS-denied environments (e.g., tunnels). The event was widely covered in the media, including film and newspaper reports.
The workshop started with the participation of Bursa’s mayor, Alinur Aktaş. This significantly increased the public attention to our project. Several reports about the event, correspondingly our project, have been published in many national newspapers and TV programs.
